Puppy Whining
We, as dog owner fail to understand most of the time that why do puppies whine. But I am sure that we all are much concerned with it and try out best to stop it.
The following can be one of the reasons for this –
- Seek Attention - The foremost reason may be to that the puppy wants to seek your attention.
- Boredom - A puppy may start whining due to boredom or loneliness.
- Pain, hunger or thrist – can also make a puppy whine.
- Anxiety – Whining is also a sign of anxiety, which may be due to separation of the puppy from his litter master and mother. This is very common when you get a new puppy home.
- Comfortable, warm and cozy environment for the pup to sleep.
- Provide him with toys to kill his boredom and to utilize his energy.
- Make sure the pup is in good health condition and if required do pay a visit to the vet.
- Do not reward the whining behavior, try to ignore it. If you start paying him attention - it may act like a reward for him and propagate whining.
- Whenever there is whining, say “NO” in a sharp tone and if he stays quiet for some time- do reward his behavior.
