Dog Training – Pre-Training

The correct time to start training your dog is - around 12 weeks of age. This is the time when your dog is ready for some command training.

Before your start the training here are some Pre-training tips which should be always kept in mind -

  1. The training sessions with your dog should be

- Twice a day

- Each session should be approximately 10-15 minutes long.

  1. When you first begin training, keep within a quiet, confined location without any distractions, then slowly work your way out to public areas.
  2. The first step in training is to figure out what your dog likes so that you can reward him with a desired prize.
  3. Keep the treats small because you want to be able to give him a lot of them, yet you don't want the training session to be ended by uncontrollable barfing.
  4. If your dog loses interest in the treats, switch the type of treat.
  5. The training session should not be immediately after meals.
  6. Keep the Treat handy, you not fumble to look for treats.
  7. Always use positive re enforcements.
