Administering Medication

Most dog owners will need to administer medication to their dogs. The medication comes in the form of a liquid or pills here are some tips making medicating your dog simpler.

Pills
• Open your dog's mouth
• Drop the pill down as far back as you can and in the center of the tongue.
• Close the dogs mouth and shut it while stroking the throat until your dog swallows.
• Giving it a treat afterwards helps insure that the pill is swallowed.
• You can also try hiding the pills in a treat.

Liquids
• Tilt the chin up at 45 degrees.
• Place the neck of the bottle between the molar teeth and the cheek. Seal the lips around it with your fingers and pour in the liquid.
• Bottles, syringes without needles & eyedroppers can be used.
