Dog Advice – Jumping

If your puppy / dog jumps a lot and you want to avoid it here are few tips that you can follow to discourage this habit and ultimately stopping it.
Normally a puppy jumps to attract attention or when he is excited. Paying too much attention to this behavior send a signal to the puppy that you like his behavior and it is encouraging for the puppy.

Tips
1. Gently block the action with your body by folding your arms and turning away from your dog.
2. Only puppy is on the ground pat him or give him a treat and praise him but keep it low.
3. Be Patient and repeat the process as many times as required.
4. Normally they jump when to arrive home so you can keep a stuffed toy or small treat with you when u arrive home and then make your puppy or dog sit when you come through the door.
5. Do not offer a treat when he is jumping – this is give encouragement.
6. If your dog's crated, don't let him out until he's calm.
