Molly
The Molly - Poecilia species, which may be P. latipinna (Sailfin Molly) or hybrids and cultivated varieties of different Poecilia species is a tropical fish. These fish are often regarded as essentially brackish, but can thrive in fresh, brackish, or even full marine conditions if acclimatised gradually.
Mollies are livebearers and up to 50 young are produced.

Size
Size 4" (10cm), females are slightly larger.
Life Span
Mollies have a life span of between 3 and 5 years
Aquarium Advice
- A teaspoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons of water will go a long way in helping them.
- Molly is easy to breed. If left in a tank with other adult fish, the baby mollies will get eaten.
- The water temperature ideally suited for mollies is 70°F - 82°F (21°C - 28°C)
- These hardy fish are easy to take care of, preferring slightly alkaline water.
- In addition to live and flake food their diet should be supplemented with some plant material. The males large fins depend on the nutrients from the plant food and may not develop properly if they are not received.
